Generosity Network (GN): Attendance Policy
Members are strongly encouraged to attend all meetings. Even though substitutes are allowed per the terms provided below, the focus of the organization is to network with members and guests, sharing information about target markets and generating referrals to boost opportunities for business growth. This effort is best served when members holding their respective chapter seat participates in the meetings, sharing first-hand target markets, goals, closed business and successes.
A member can miss no more than seven (7) chapter meetings during each six-month term. Terms run from January through June and July through December.
Members are encouraged to arrange for a substitute if unable to avoid missing a meeting. First, this provides continuity for the group. Members need to be present to pass referrals. Secondly, other members would appreciate this consideration by realizing how valuable a substitute can be to the chapter. Finally, the member is not counted as absent when providing a substitute.
Of the permitted missed meetings, a member can only be absent without a substitute no more than four (4) times in a six-month term.
Members need to contact the Membership Committee by phone or text if unable to attend a meeting. It is preferred that the communication is provided at least 24 hours in advance. If that’s not possible due to extenuating circumstances, a call or text before the start of the meeting is a must.
If a member is more than ten (10) minutes late or leaves early without prior consent of the President, it will be counted as an absence.
If a member reaches or exceeds five (5) absences and/or eight ( total misses in a six-month term, the member’s professional classification could be re-opened by the membership committee, unless given a leave of absence by the membership committee.
Based on the attendance/substitute policy stated above, the membership committee has complete discretion to revoke an existing membership in any GN chapter. These policies are a critical part of the GN experience and one of many elements that make the GN experience effective for its members. Each GN chapter takes these policies seriously, and by doing so this enables leadership and other members to make its chapter the best it can be.
